Pyrodur Plus Fire Glass

Pilkington Pyrodur™ Plus - Fire Glass

Pilkington Pyrodur™ Plus is an advanced thin, clear fire-resistant laminate glass, which easily meets all the latest European fire and impact standards. Using a special clear intumescent interlayer; it offers an excellent combination of fire and impact performance, making it the ideal choice for internal fire-resistant doors and partitions.

Narrow profile nominally 7.5mm thick.

Integrity fire performance, 30 minutes classfication.

Partial insulation and exceptionally low Ievels of transmitted radiant heat.

Impact performance to BS6206: 1981 Class C.

Meets thc requirements of the new European impact standard as a laminated glass.

Fire Performance

Fire Glass: In the event of fire, the interlayer intumesces and turns from clear to opaque, so creating an effective integrity barrier against hot gases and flames.

Once opaque, the interlayer also significantly cuts down the Ievel of radiant heat from the fire, achieving exceptionally low radiant heat intensities for such a thin integrity glass.

Under independent testing conditions, (reference test reports RF00137 and RF00138), integrity in excess of 40 minutes was achieved - a safety margin of 30%, above the minimum clas)fication time of 30 minutes.

Performance in the tests allows an approved fire door containing Pilkington Pyrodur™ Plus to bc classfied as a Category B door within the specific provisions of BS EN 1634-1, which allows specific increases in dimensions under the field of direct application allowed by the standard.

Impact safety

Pilkington Pyrodur™ Plus complies with BS6206: 1981 Class C and, when tested according to the new European standard, it shows safe breakage in the manner of a Iaminated glass.

Sound insulation

Pilkington Pyrodur™ Plus offers an acoustic improvement over standard fire-resistant glass of similar thickness. The Rw index (weighted sound reduction) is 35dB

Applications and usage

Pilkington Pyrodur™ Plus provides the optimum combination of fire and impact performance, making it the ideal choice for fire-resistant doors and partitions. It can only be used in internal applications.

Finished sizes of Pilkington Pyrodur™ Plus are supplied with a distinctive silver edge tape. This tape must not be removed or replaced, nor must thc glass be proccssed or cut to any other size than that supplied.

Application applies to the normal environmcntal conditions found in occupied places of work or assembly.

Glazing

As with any other fire-resistant glass, Pilkington Pyrodur™ Plus must only be used as part of an appropriately rated system. We recommend that glazing is carried out by a FTRAS accredited installer.

Whilst Pilkington Pyrodur™ Plus can be easily glazed, due to the nature of the special interlayer handling guidelines must be adhered to. Copies of these guidelines are available on request.

Glass weight is typically 18kg per m2 and thickness tolerances fall within the limits set by BS EN 12543-5 (ie. +/- lmm).

The standards Pilkington Pyrodur™ Plus Fire Glass has been tested against.
